Well I am back! After trying to get thru this thing we call depression and severe writer’s block I have been coming up with ideas for this blog that are more than just book and music reviews. For today’s post, I will be discussing my top favorite books for Self-Love and Motivation when you need that extra push to get through the day or the week.
I have been a huge fan and promoter of self-help and motivational books since my elementary school days thanks to my dad who got me into those “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books every kid read during those years.
- If You Feel Too Much by Jamie Tworkowski
- Adventures For Your Soul by Shannon Kaiser
- You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
- Brave Enough by Cheryl Strayed
If You Feel Too Much, a memoir of essays by the founder of the non-profit organization To Write Love On Her Arms, that I have to say helped me in more ways than one to find the strength and courage to get help when I truly needed it at a difficult time for me through their blog posts and just the message of what they represent. I have been a follower and supporter of this organization since 2006/2007 when I was in High School, it didn’t take long to hear about this non-profit from Orlando down in Miami during those days due to a strong Myspace presence and seeing Amy Lee, Jonathan Foreman and Hayley Williams all sporting shirts.
Adventures For Your Soul is a great book on how-to guidance and how to transform your life to be more of what you wanted it to be at one point. This book along with You Are A Badass both helped me really take apart certain aspects of what I was doing wrong or just lacking the self-confidence to kick myself in the butt, to just say enough is enough and seize the day and life.
Last, but not least is Brave Enough. This book killed me, its a quotation book full of quotes and phrases from what I guess is most of Cheryl Strayed‘s novels such as Dear Sugar and Wild (My favorite of hers!!!!) This book most definitely changed me along with Wild as did the movie.
If you or someone you know need a little extra help to pick themselves up or need some inspiration, check out these books. You won’t regret it and it might just be the help you need.
