Last night, I finished a very witty, hilarious, and sweet romantic comedy about Dean Harper and Lily Black. I was able to get my hands on (figuratively speaking) an ARC copy kindle edition and read this novel over a few days. Lily Black, a strong-willed and rough around the edges type of women moves to New York City to live with her bestfriend Josephine Keller, who was dating Julian Lefray of Lefray Designs and working for Vogue as an in-house blogger.

Dean Harper, an up-and-coming restaurateur who happens to be a workaholic who has ZERO time for fun and is a emotionally unavailable. Harper, who is currently opening up a new tapas restaurant needs an experienced consultant and ended up hiring much to his dismay, Lily who he fired after meeting her while she was bartending at his restaurant Provisions.

“I didn’t want a guy with better hair than me. (Jared Leto, i’m lookin’ at you.)”

I thought the story was very well developed and beautifully written. The characters were constantly keeping me at edge the more I read, whether Lily was going to give-in and not be so stubborn or whether Dean was going to just decide to give love a try and not keep himself closed off. I was constantly laughing and receiving weird looks by my boyfriend as I read this.

“Her eyes looked wicked in the moonlight. Bright and feral and angry.”

The hate to love romance between these two is beyond hilarious and sexy when they want to be together yet decide it’s too complicated due to the boss-employee titles. The epic battles these two got into without the help of Julian and Jo the BFF’S of the main protagonists. I almost fell over laughing every time Lily had an inner monologue about whether she would do something to provoke Dean to drive him nuts, especially when she took his medal and slept with it.

“Did you check with the nunnery in Sweden to see if they had any openings?”

This cute and funny story is a must-read if you’re in the mood for a light-hearted story with two characters who you can easily picture in a movie. Without giving much away, go BUY this book on amazon!

Author Info:

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things…everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I’m a comedy geek and love all things funny. Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
